Research On Embedded Linux System Application

The thesis described details of the development of the most popular ARM based embedded Linux system and carry out researches on the application of which to the intellectual UPS agent card.At the beginning, this thesis introduced the network oriented developing direction of UPS, and the system components selection which based on the actual requests of the intellectual UPS agent card has also been done .After the analyses and comparison of various kinds of popular network processors and embedded systems, taking it into consideration that the price sensitivity of the UPS Agent card hardware and the poor Real-time command of network processing, the author finally chooses the uClinux embedded operation system and the Net-Start! Developing kit, the latter of which is based on S3C4510B chip and its kernel is Samsung Company's ARM7TDMI.Then based on the system components selection and the source of Open-Source Software at the internet, the author configured the embedded Linux system's cross-compile environment by the means of "bash shell" script.The author also has programmed for boot loader of the developing board. And the environment of uClinux kernel and root file system have also been configured, the result of these is that the embedded Linux system can be successfully booted.In the end, the thesis introduced the basic knowledge of the development and debugging of the ARM based embedded Linux system.What's more, the program work of the serial communication, drive program, SNMP protocol based MIB library and the Agent program has all been done by the author. In addition, the author added CGI code into the open-source software "thttpd" successfully, which can make MIB library available in the internet with http protocol. Then, a embedded gateway has been constructed, and the development of the UPS Agent card accomplished as a result.
