This thesis begins with a profound analysis of the Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine (DICOM) standard which is applied widely in Medical Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), and then introduces the design and implementation of medical image processing tool based on DICOM standard. There are mainly two parts in this thesis: In the first part, practical application of DICOM standard is investigated, the main architecture of the DICOM standard and the DICOM file format is described in detail, with the method for parsing and construction of DICOM files and formation conversion with other files given at last; In the second part, implementation of medical image processing software is introduced particularly, the methods to dispose the wink of the image, to gain a high speed to show image, to display the splice of image process are expounded, and all kinds of observation and adjust operations on images are realized.Now, this medical image processing tool has been integrated as a DICOM interface platform into the workstation of digital medical image, whose function resemble a PACS. With powerful function, high processing speed, handle flexible, this tool could obviously improve the efficiency for doctors to diagnose and treat medical images.
