With the extensive use of embedded system, there is a great demand for digital image data in many application field. Therefore digital image acquisition becomes the key process of system.Nowadays, most image data acquisition cards are based on PC technology, these cards use PCI or USB as data transfer ports, and the image data processing unit is PC. while it's a customize system not the PC used as the image data processing unit, these PC-based acquisition card doesn't work.The author redesigned an image acquisition card from demand of the embedded system. The card is designed by using an integrated video decoder, image data are stored in SDRAM, the image processing unit can read the data from the port provided by this card.Firstly, the paper compare three kinds of image acquisition system, the differences between them have been discussed. Than the system which we designed is presented in details. The implement of controller and interface with FPGA are also discussed in this paper.
