Research And Design Of Flat Light Guide Plate Used For LCD Backlight Unit

Light guide plate is an important subassembly of backlight units. Its capability has effect on the performance of backlight units. Therefore, design and manufacture of light guide plate is one of key technologies of the backlight units. At present, design technology and manufacturers of the light guide plate in China still depend on experience or traditional design by oversea designers. Therefore, theoretical research on the distribution rule of netted dots on light guide plate and the new-style volume scattering light guide plate are rare. Therefore, research on the transmission character of light beam in light guide plate and the design technology of light guide plate is meaningful.Based on the analysis of the transmission process of light beam in edge-lighting flat light guide plate (without volume scattering particles) with CCFL as a light source, this thesis got an arrangement formula and related method to design a light guide plate with scattering netted dots. According to the method, simulation and analysis of flat light guide plate with scattering netted dots were done by using of ASAP software. Comparing with others, the method was confirmed that the method is feasible and got good design with luminance uniformity on the flat light guide plate to light LCD.The thesis also discussed the new-style volume scattering light guide plate in detail. According to simulation and analysis by using of ASAP software, we studied the trend and relationships between output luminous flux and several facts, such as luminance distribution, BSDF curve of scattering model and scattering efficiency quantity when volume scattering particles were in different densities, different refractive index and different size of the particles.
