Since the 1990s, Many countries, if not all, in the world have accelerated the pace of educational reforms and taken multiple measures to put the reforms into practice. Some representative countries, with America, the Great Britain and France as the typical ones, advocate comprehensive reform in teaching with the inquiry learning as its cutting point. The aspects of such reform ranges from teaching methods and contents to evaluation system. Internationally and acknowledgedly, The teaching mode of Inquiry Learning is a brand-new mode. It lays much emphasis on the course, the uses, the experiences, and on the participation. And It has a positive function of students for exciting the interest of study, training students' learning ability, research ability and innovation ability. It is a practice to employ Inquiry Learning mode in the course of programming design in the normal university.Based on the status quo of inquiry learning and the course of foundation of the programming design in the normal university, this thesis puts forward the theme of its study at the very outset. Firstly, the thesis elaborates the necessity and feasibility of the implementation, analyzes the object and puts forward the ultimate aim of the inquiry learning in the course of the foundation of the programming design. Secondly, a practical method and process of subject inquiry learning mode of the course of the foundation of the programming design is summed up by means of combing multiple data. Then, Based on the method and process, three new Inquiry Learning modes suitable to the programming design in the normal university are constructed. The seven basic elements of the teaching modes, theme, theoretical foundations, functional goal, implemental strategy, operation procedure, and implemental evaluation are respectively analyzed and discussed as well.
