Due to the development of the informational technology, the application domain of computer is enlarging and the level is enhancing unceasingly in society. The demand of software members is increasing perpetually, and the request of technology is advancing in every walk of life. The status of programming curriculum should be guaranteed in order to build a steady basis for the growth of students. Meantime, programming could bring up the students'ability of logic thinking, innovating and practicing which is compatible with instructional faith and goal.From the viewpoint of cultivating the students'information accomplishment and ability, each college set up programming curriculum, such as Pascal, C or VFP programming language in non-computer specialty besides computer specialty in our country so as to build up a basis to adapt the requirement of compound person with ability in the new century.However, the teaching of programming is not a pleasant state. The research and interview show that students are full of fears, they think programming is obscure and hard to learn, therefore become depressed and lose interest. While teachers are disappointed when students fail to understand and apply the basic structure of programming."Hared to learn"and"hard to teach"become the unanimously opinion for both staff and students. The major reason is that the programming course adopt traditional mean of knowledge imparting which lay particular stress on teaching and ignore the psychological straits of students as a learning body, so the status quo of programming couldn't be improved. Explore new instructional idea, new method or theory, and teach programming effectively have become desiderated in teaching reform.This paper researches the status quo in teaching and learning in college on the basis of constructivism and Ausbel's theory of cognitive structure, and then probes into the teaching process of programming from the viewpoint of learning and teaching.
