The work of measurement is more needed to assure the accuracy of the result in the application of instrument. With the fast development of electronic instrument, the task is added; speed and accuracy of measurement are needed to be improved. These make measurement instrument,calibration method and operator improved greatly. With the continual improvement of function and accuracy of instrument, the traditional manual verification can not meet the need in practical operation and the automatic verification for this kind of instrument is urgently required.Standard instrument for verifying signal generator is introduced in the text. That is, what is 8902S microwave test system, work reason, function and method of verification signal generator. The design method and implementation of signal generator instruments automatic verification system software is introduced which is designed with Visual Basic. The design objective of software adapting ordinary instrument interface is realized with VISA I/O interface function. The design objective of irrelevancy between the software and the specific instrument resource is achieved with the design method of using database and reasonable verification flow. The software can be applied in signal generator program-controlled instrument. The realizable verified items are the parameters of frequency output, level, AM,FM,ΦM,power, residual FM and AM, spurious FM and AM, etc. The verification result is recorded in the verification report automatically. The verification procedure complies with the relevant national regulation of metrology.The calibration method applies to the calibration/verification of signal generator instrument. The designed software can fulfill the automatic verification of variety signal generator instrument. The efficiency of verification is enhanced greatly, the accuracy of the data is assured and the work task is reduced by the application of this software.
