Dies with good quality and short production cycle are needed for the production of the new type and the renovation of autos. The production of dies is according to the order form which was not as same as other auto component companies. It needs complex technique and high precision in the manufacturing process. So the tools needed in the dies manufacturing process should be provided in time with good quality. And the tool management in the auto dies and mould corp. is the most important component of the technical management and the base for the implement of the technique regulations, and it is also important in the preparing process of dies.The management of tools includes many modules such as the estimation of the supplier, the demanding plan of tools, the borrowing, and the query of the workers and the control of stock. In one tool storeroom in DongFeng Motor Die & Mould Co., Ltd, the varieties of the tools are more than 3,000, the total amount is more than 30,000, the price varies from several hundred to several thousand, and the sum of the money paid for these tools is more than 3,000,000. It is difficult to collect and inquire about the tool information depending on handwork, and it is not fitted to the need of the management of tools. The tool management is only considered as an assistant role in the implement of PDM, CIMS and ERP in some companies, and the tool plan, design and borrow were not analyzed totally. In some tool management system, it only realizes the function of storage management, and the tool information was not integrated.The problem in the tool management process was put forward on the basis of the investigation of the dies & mould enterprise. Aiming at the requirement of the company, the definite storage and two Bins mode were built, and the estimation of the tool supplier was carried out using fuzzy comprehensive method. The integration of tool management system and the systems such as technique system, stocking system of materials and the cost calculating system were discussed. Finally, on the premise of the task of production can be finished on time, it provides the reasonable requirement plan of tools, decreases the storage fund and improves the efficiency of tools.
