Research And Application Of Wireless Monitoring System Based On ZigBee

ZigBee is a new global standard for wireless communications, with the characteristics of low cost, low power consumption and low data rate. The ZigBee protocol based on IEEE 802.15.4 standard will be embedded in thousands of sensors, which can communicate easily with power efficient. It has a good market in building automation and industrial controls.ZigBee technology is used adaptively in wireless monitoring system. However, the problems of power supply, implementing ZigBee stack and coordination of energy-saving mechanism at all levels and the automatic network formation, need to be solved in order to establish a system by means of ZigBee. This pater puts emphasis on how to design the whole system and how to organize the software.GPRS technology is a kind of mature technology. It has been used widely in remote wireless data transfer. It is easy to install and low cost. And the system is no limit of time, area and distance, and no use of wires. We use the ZigBee to transfer data in local network and GPRS to transfer data in wide area network. Under the circumstances, the design of wireless monitoring system based on ZigBee and GPRS is my main target.Firstly, this paper introduces the concept of ZigBee technology, the architecture of ZigBee and the fields where ZigBee can apply, and do some research on ZigBee stack; Secondly, the paper designs a wireless monitoring system which combines the technology of ZigBee with GPRS, and describes how to choose hardware and does some code for software ; Thirdly, a simulating platform based on 0MNeT++ is created for ZigBee, and do some test in order to validate our solution; Finally, the paper does the work to carry on the summary, and proposed the next research work development direction.
