With the wide spread of the Internet, the network service is more and more various and the network users are increasing, while the users request more to the performance of the network, so it is necessary for the current network to be developed to the next generation.The current Internet adopts the protocol TCP/IP whose core protocol is the IP address coding protocol. And the IPv4 we use now has worked for 25 years in which the address has 32 bits , and it has passed its best time and can't satisfy the develop of the network.IPv6 is the natural evolution of IPv4, whose full name is "the internet protocol version 6" and whose address has 128 bits and can produce 2 powered by 128 addresses which is almost infmite.EPv6 has overcome many defects and is suitable to the develop of the Internet. The IPng workgroup in IETF has designed the standard about IPv6, and the NGtrans workgroup are doing the research on how to transit smoothly from IPv4 to IPv6.The network measuring is the approach of most efficiency which can obtain the parameter of the network behavior at first hand, and conceptually speaking, it is also the method which can gather and analyze the working performance of the network protocol, help us to understand why the network(LAN of WAN) can't work very well while the final goal that we do research on the network is to build the kind of network which is high efficiency, steady, secure, strong , interactive, divinable and controllable. Thus, the network measuring has become one of the important research projects on network. How to measure and analyze the network performance is a complex task, which should obtain the performance parameter of the network qualitatively or quantitatively through measuring, modeling, analyzing and can forecast, control and use the network efficiently.Recently IPv6 network has worked successfully and its standard is being enriched and perfected more and more and the protocol IPv6 and other correlative protocols are pretty mature. The performance measuring of IPv6 network which owns the next generation Internet protocol has gained more and more focus and it is quite necessary to measure and analyze the network performance before we build a large-scaled IPv6 network.For the moment, measuring and analyzing the IPv6 network performance is still a new research field. This paper proposed Test6,a kind of testing system which can measuring the IPv6 network performance, on the base of CERNET2 and the IPv6 campus network of Shandong University ,and paying attention on the IPv6 network working and management. This paper defined the essential parameters of IPv6 network, including throughput, delay and lost rate, and then designed and realized the IPv6 network performance test system—Test6,improved the test project and made the test stencil, making the focus on the IPv6 network performance.At last, we did the IPv6 network performance measurement to IPv6 campus network of Shandong University according to the test project. The parameters and rules of the IPv6 campus network performance has been obtained through analyzing and modeling the measuring data. And we also came up with the directive suggestions to IPv6 network management and gave the next develop direction of the IPv6 network performance measurement.
