With the development of digital television technology, especially the transition from analog system to digital system of cable television, digital television equipment are being applied greatly. Because of different applying situation, all kinds of digital television interface are appeared, such as parallel digital component interface, serial digital component interface, composite digital video parallel/serial interface, serial digital interface and asynchronism serial interface, synchronism serial interface, synchronism parallel interface of DVB standard. SDI is the interface applied broadly in the digital television production in broadcast room. It is used mainly in nonlinear editor system, video server, virtual broadcast room, digital switch matrix and digital light end machine. The appearance of SDI can connect all kinds of digital equipment to a system in 4:2:2 digital broadcast room environment and simplify greatly the conversion of different data format. Many of video equipment producers in the world have SDI as standard video interface and equip their video produce with SDI.The paper shows the design scheme of high definition serial digital interface card and develops HD-SDI interface card. It fulfills serial input and serial output of standard definition format video data and high definition format video data, and has the features of processing video data with high speed, strong real time and high performance/price ratio. The paper uses the chips GS1560 and GS1532 of GENUMI Corp. and designs the hardware circuits to accomplish the conversion of serial data/parallel data and parallel data/serial data. The paper designs processing video data IP cores and downloads them to FPGA chip EP1S25F780C7. The software is used to configure the card and capture, preview, playback the video data. Finally, the instrument is accomplished after debug and experiment.
