Cardio-system disease is the most dangerous killer in the world. While ECG(Electro Cardio Gram) is one of the most important tools for detecting cardio-system diseases today. So, developing a high performance portable ECG machine is very important for detecting and treating heart problem of people in time. Company with the development of the modem electronic information technology, especially the VLSI and DSP technology, ECG machine is moving towards the minuteness, multifunction and intelligence.ARM micro processor is small, low power consumption, low price, high performance MCU. It has been prevalent used in industry control, wireless communication, network application, custom electronics, images procession and security domains.A type of portable ECG machine using embedded technology and implemented on a RISC ARM processor is introduced here.This article first introduced the primary working principle of the ECG machine and the research work we have to do. Next, based on the characteristics of the electricity-cardiology signals, we comprehensively described the signal collect and filtering technology. And based on the clinic application,we've provide the signal collection program which can running on PC.Then we mainly described the hardware and software co-design method and design route of the embedded ECG machine. Including CPU selection, electrical cardinal machine peripheral element circuit design,embedded operating system selection, drive programming and embedded ECG signal collection programming.
