Remote monitor and control system based on general packet radio service (GPRS) is discussed in this paper.GPRS is one kind of wireless network, and fits for remote monitor and control system. Vehicular orientation system based on GPRS and electricity remote monitor system based on GPRS are discussed in this paper as examples.The system based on GPRS needs additional GPRS wireless module and some network protocols. Whereas the hardware platforms of vehicular orientation system and electricity remote monitor system are different, the different software frameworks are designed.The micro controller of vehicular orientation system is 51 series single-chip processor with little memory. Therefore, the network protocols in this system are reduced. The functions of the protocols are called by a single main function to avoid the stack of the micro controller overflowing. The packages of the protocols are stored in the memory pages. In addition, the finite automation of point-to-point protocol is reduced. The micro controller communicates with CMS91 and GPS receiver by two serial ports.The microprocessor of electricity remote monitor system is high-performance S3C44B0X. The embedded operation systemμC/OS-II is ported to S3C44B0X. Each software module of the system is a task in theμC/OS-II. The processor communicates with CMS91 and intelligent device by two serial ports.The two systems based on GPRS are able to send data to the computer on Internet. In addition, the interval of communication is less than 3 seconds.
