With the development of Internet and distributed application, the information resources become more and more heterogeneous, magnanimous and dynamic. At the same time, the enterprise constructed various application systems in the construction of information system. However, those systems lack of effective cooperation, which make it difficult to exchange and share data between them. Those systems become "detached island of information". It is the main problem for information integration that how to integrate those information resources which are distributed on geography, self-rule on management, heterogeneity on mode, and provide information "which are really wanted" for people.The traditional integration method only can integrate heterogonous information in syntax level and structure level and has nothing to do with the problem of semantic mismatch and heterogeneity of information. In this dissertation, ontology is introduced to realize the information integration in concept level. Ontology can describe the concept model of information system in structure, semantic and knowledge level, which make it effective to solve the problem of semantic heterogeneity in the process of information integration.Firstly, in this dissertation, current information integration methods are discussed, the disadvantages of them are found, and ontology-based information integration is introduced.Secondly, the basic theory is introduced, which refers to ontology and rule, method, language and tool to construct ontology, at the same time, we analyses the advantage and integration method to apply ontology in information integration, introduce ontology-based Logistics Information Integration Framework (LIIF) to realize semantic integration of the heterogeneous logistics information system.Thirdly, we introduce the construction of ontology and ontology mapping, introduce the method of constructing ontology from database and XML files and take the record that conveyance serves for client for example to describe the construction of ontology and ontology mapping. Finally, the implementation to prototype system is introduced.
