With the development of computer and information technology,many enterprises have built their information management systems.However,due to various reasons,there are many varying degrees of heterogeneous in these systems' databases,making defferent inter-linkage departments can not exchange and share information.So how to integrate these distributed and heterogeneous databases,and make them have flexible interoperability,is now an urgent work.The purpose of heterogeneous database integration is to build a global transparent data model perspective and shield the heterogeneity between participating databases(local database) which is geographical distributed,achieving information sharing and transparent visiting with minimal impact on local autonomy.There are many database integration technology have been advanced and have resolved some heterogeneous problems effectively,but semantics heterogeneity problem has not been resolved.This paper introduced the concept of ontology to resolve the semantic heterogeneity in database integration.The main contents of the paper include:1,Analysis the probelms that need to be addressed in heterogeneous database integration,as well as the advantages and disadvantages in existed heterogeneous database integration systems.These works lay a foundation for the further work.2,Discuss the ontological advantages in data integration,and bring forward a hybrid ontology-based heterogeneous database integration architecture framework;Put forward a method of establishing the local ontology and generating mapping between them based on the relational database;Study the method of combining ontology based on the vocabulary similarity,and provide a method of automatic mergering local ontologies and generating ontology mapping between global and local ontologies.3,At the part of the global query processing,design the algorithm of query parsing, query decomposition and query rewriting,thus the global query is decomposed into the final query to the database.4,Design and implement the crucial part of the integration system..At the end of this paper,apply this integration mothod to the XX Province Road Traffic Information Resources Integrating and Services Project.Practical application shows that this integration approach reduces the system coupling,and enhances the maintainability,verify the practicality.
