With popularation of variety Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), multifunctional, configurable LCD controller would to be the development focus in the future. Associating with the project that the author participated in, a type of flexible configurable LCD controller was designed in the thesis based on a SoC (System on Chip) chip mainly used in portable device.According to the LCD controller's main function in the system, the thesis partition the top module by "from top to bottom" method. The following is the mainly work in detailed design:(1) Finished several interfaces design, including register read-write interface, AMBA AHB bus interface, LCD panel interface, which makes it better to communicate with external.(2) Improved several digital image processing implemation by hardware, including:a) Realized the color space conversion based on distribution algorithm by the improvement architecture, which pipelining converts the data between YUV and RGB space better and faster by using the 4-2 compressor, and etc.b) Analyzed and compared variety of image scaling methods. Proposed a one line scan linear interpolation algorithm which make the compute simply and decrease the area consumption, as well as with good image quality. Meanwhile, focusing on the issue that there is much redundancy in scaling up process, we inserted buffers to store the repeated line so that the speed is increased and the bandwidth is saved.
