With the development of the Technology of sensor, compute and wireless communication, more and more devices integrating sensor, communication and processing have been invented to accomplish information collection, data process and wireless communication. Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) which consisting of lots of sensor nodes is an intelligent network application which can implement data collection, gathering and transmission by itself. WSN can be applied in many areas such as military affairs, commerce, medical care, environmental monitoring, and becomes a new research focus of computer science and technology. Due to its specialty WSN can not implement by existing wireless routing protocols, and design of application oriented routing protocols is the research gravity of the network-layer. This thesis puts more emphasis on designing and realizing a fast and reliable routing protocol (FRP), which uses the sink as the center, and aims to monitor the area where the WSN covers. This thesis put forward that the research status of WSN, the characteristics and application area of WSN, the communication protocol architecture. Then the author analyzed and compared some routing protocols that proposed by oversea researcher and assimilated excellence idea among them and designed FRP protocol. The algorithm is implemented by the simulation platform which is built with Visual C++ and compared to the Directed Diffusion protocol (DD). The results show that FRP has several better performances against DD: less energy consuming, longer lifetime and better dynamic scalability. And it introduced the hardware designs of the network includes some sensor nodes which are made by microcontroller MSP430F123 and RF chip nRF2401. The experiment results show that FRP protocol can complete the query...
