Analysis And Research On IP-Based MPEG-2 TS Transfer

With the popularization of wideband networks and the merging of communication networks, data networks and cable networks, there is a wide application of network streaming media. The newly-developing IPTV is one of them. IPTV is a new way to watch TV and also a new service on networks. Therefore, it plays a positive role to research IPTV-related techniques.The status quo of IPTV development is first introduced. Then this paper describes basic techniques of IPTV, including MPEG-2 coding standard, MPEG-2 TS structure, Real-Time Transport Protocol and the solution to encapsulating MPEG-2 TS into IP packets. Next, the paper pays attention to the transfer of MPEG-2 TS over IP networks, from the way of putting digital television onto networks to the influence of transfer quality on the receiving end.
