Generally, IPTV means to deliver the sound or video contents through Internet and to enjoy that on TV, Since 2005, IPTV has become one of the most popular topics in Chinese telecommunication field. Nowadays, the IPTV services provided by ISPs are mostly based on Content Distribute Network (CDN) through which push the media contents to the edge server nearest from users, or running on the multicast-supporting manageable IP networks, facing the I/O limitation of client/server mode. While the rapid development of P2P technology in the latest two years makes it one of the most disruptive tools for the construction of large-scale distributed system over Internet. Therefore, as one of the most perspective applications, P2P streaming system has become one of the hotspot of P2P research.In P2P, each client provides certain saving space and network resources for the system to services other clients while accepting services, thus to alleviate efficiently the load and bandwidth occupation of server. It's the most effective solution for current IPTV service which needs to solve the network extending and lower the makeover cost.This paper conducts in-depth research on the core technology of P2P overlay network, including the ALM(application-layer multicast), user management and dynamic adjust of overlay network. It discusses the feasibility of using P2P technique in IPTV in the demand of manageable IPTV system. Then it presents a new IPTV Model which integrates P2P Architecture and CDN technology. At the upper level this model uses CDN to deliver video source files from central servers to proxy servers. The lower level consists of several P2P networks which are controlled by proxy servers. The use of P2P streaming technique breaks the obstacle of C/S model by reasonably using of server and clients'resource and network up-forwarding band. VOD, BTV, Service authentication and Charging can be realized based on this P2P-IPTV Model.
