Indonesian Chinese literature originated and developed from the Chinese press supplement in Indonesia. Looking back the history of Indonesian Chinese press supplement for the past one hundred years, Indonesian Chinese literature always connected firmly with the Chinese press supplement at every stage. At the turning point of 20th century, Chinese press supplement in Indonesia strengthened cooperation with Indonesian-bom Chinese literature association through releasing various literal works, in order to revive Chinese literature in Indonesia. More over, it also published kinds of translated works and played an important role in encouraging Indonesia-born Chinese authors to write in bilingual—Chinese and Indonesian under new historical period to promote nation amalgamation and cultural communicationChinese language education is the foundation of Chinese press and literature. Besides of that, Chinese press supplement shouldered the task of spreading Chinese culture. After experiencing the change from "fallen leaves return to the ground" to "falling to the ground and taking roots" during the past one century, Indonesia-bom Chinese had become one part of the Indonesian mixed-nationality. By means of setting up pages such as Traditional Chinese medicine, Swordsmen novels, Chinese calligraphy, etc. Indonesian Chinese press supplement still continues to preserve and develop the traditional Chinese culture.This thesis aims to identify Chinese press supplement in Indonesia contributed a lot to what referred before, through looking back its developing history and analyzing the current supplement pages and columns. According to that, some opinions and suggestions will be given to the future of Chinese press supplement in Indonesia.
