Field Assistant System Based On SOA And Smart Client Technology

With the development of the society and the healthiness of the environmental regulations and laws, the inspections of the environmental business become more and more standardized. Traditional simple artificial management can not longer fit the information requirement of the development of the environmental inspection. The environment department intensively needs a self-contained, network conscious and easy-deployment smart terminal to satisfy the requirement of the field inspection for the environmental inspector.Smart Client is such a kind of technology that can satisfy the entire requirement as before. A Smart Client is an application that uses local processing, consumes XML Web Services and can be deployed and updated from a centralized server. While the .NET Framework (Windows Forms) and the .NET Compact Framework provide the ability to develop Smart Clients with ease, other technologies can provide Smart Client applications by utilizing the same architecture. Smart Client is the concept of architecting your application solution into a smart, flexible and convenient platform that utilizes web services for communication. SOA is an architectural style whose goal is to achieve loose coupling among interacting software agents. A service is a unit of work done by a service provider to achieve desired end results for a service consumer. Both provider and consumer are roles played by software agents on behalf of their owners.In this article, we will, from the application point of view, discuss a Smart Client system with the SOA idea, field assistant service tracking system(FAST), implemented on the .Net framework 2.0 platforms, focusing on how to build the efficient SOA offline architecture, how to use web service to synchronize data and click once deployment.Now the main work has been finished and the system has been used in many of the environmental facilities and received many good responses from the customers, which not only improves the quality of the environmental inspection work but also accelerate the standardized execution of the environmental regulation.
