Along with the developing economy of our country, the stock exchange is more important than ever. But the large amount of unstructured, heterogeneous stock resource on WWW makes users usually cost plenty of time, and acquired information is hard to satisfy with their need. Therefore, building a stock information system (SIS) based on the technology of semantic web, which can effectively obtain, organize, represent and analyze the stock information so as to retrieve some useful information for meeting the demands from all kinds of users, is necessary in the future. In this paper, modeling SIS based semantic web was completed by iteratively using unified modeling language (UML) and unified process (UP); then according to the architecture of semantic web, the model of SIS based semantic web was designed and implemented. The detail is as the follow:The paper constructed the architecture of semantic web of SIS after analyzing the character of semantic web and the architecture of seven layers, and showed corresponding XML+ XML Schema, RDF+ RDF Schema, OWL+ OWL Schema and stock ontology.Based on considering and analyzing the stock information in detail, the paper used the architecture of semantic web to improve the UP process in four steps, such as marking the UP by collection, analysis, description and check, so that it can better modeling SIS based on semantic web.The UP used in modeling SIS is iterative and increasing. Contents of the model start from the small scale, then produce more exact requirement increasingly by iterative procedures, develop more mature set of requirement by using increasing mode, finally build ultimate the model of SIS based on semantic web. The model applies use-case view (use-case diagram, sequence diagram, collaboration diagram and activity diagram), logical view (class diagram, object diagram and state graph), component view (component diagram) and deployment view (deployment diagram) to carry on a detailed description respectively, presenting a stock information system model from each one possibly.C# and .NET were used to build the system structure, and realize the stock information retrieval, information organization and information representation of the modeling SIS.
