The Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a general-purpose visual modeling language that is used to specify, visualize, construct, and document the artifacts of a software system. It is intended for use with all development methods, lifecycle stages, application domains, and development tools. The modeling language is intended to unify past experience about modeling techniques and to incorporate current software best practices into a standard approach. The UML specification does not define a standard process, it is intended to support most existing object-oriented development processes. The Unified Development Process (UDP) a software development process based on the UML, UDP relies on three key ideas: Use Case Driven, Architecture-Centric, and Iterative and Incremental development. UDP established a unified software process framework that integrates software life cycles, phases, workflows, risk mitigation, quality control and project management. The thesis dissertate how to use UML in practice of software system modeling and take the advantages of UDP to organize the whole development process effectively by the case study of a computer automatic testing system.
