Grid computing is the next generation network infrastructure. Grid computing aims at connecting all the computing resources that are different in structure and distributed in many places by high speed networks to complete the computing assignment and share resources among wide area. Grid users can get resources which they need through rapid, convenient and inexpensive approaches. The advanced Grid technique integrate the Grid computing and the Web Services which is business applications oriented. .It is promising in business applications. Accordingly, it is a hotspot of recent Grid research how to make Grid technique benefit enterprises better.Data is a important kind of resource in Grid. Data query and transfer functions are used very frequently in the Grid applications. Grid data management module should hide the heterogeneity of data resources, provide uniform access interfaces, and make sure of the reliability and security of data access.Firstly, the basic concepts and situations at home and abroad of Grid are introduced. Secondly two kinds of Grid architecture: five-level sandglass architecture and open grid service architecture OGSA are studied and analyzed. The two OGSA infrastructure criterions are also detailed analyzed and compared each other. Then, the advantages and features of data management based on Grid are explained. Finally, a model of document management system is proposed. Based on Globus toolkit 4, we implement a prototype of the model.
