| This paper mainly focuses within the simulation and analysis of different network protocol of optical metropolitan area network, the blocking performance analysis of the Optical Circuit Switch (OCS) network and the integrated control plane design of a new optical network LOBS.Firstly, the key networking technologies for optical metropolitan area networks - Optical Circuit Switch (OCS), Optical Packet Switch (OPS) and Optical Burst Switch (OBS) are briefly discussed, and the development trends of optical metropolitan area network are forecasted. The emergence and the development of the Automatic Switched Optical Network (ASON) are also mentioned in the first chapter.Automatically Switched Optical Network (ASON) is a promising network infrastructure.In this paper, the function structure is discussed, and the simulation system is constructed based on the ASON reference model proposed by ITU-T. The research focuses on the Rout Controller (RC) in the control plane of ASON. The routing protocol OSPF is realized in the simulation system.After the realization of the ASON simulation system, analysis which factor in data transmission make influence on the blocking probability of the network is done. By comparing the influence of each factor on blocking probability, the paper evaluates the performance of the method which avoids the blocking, and some initial results are obtained.The basic architecture of optical burst switching network is briefly presented in this paper. Constructing the simulation platform of OBS system is presented.
