This article emphasizes on the study and analysis of optical network protocols, especially about ASON and OBS control plan. And it mainly consists of four parts as follows:The firs chapter is mainly about the development and application prospect of optical network. Because of unimaginable large bandwidth, all-optical network will contribute to telecommunications remarkably. The second chapter first introduces the automatic switching optical network (ASON). The layered-model and signaling process are also studied in detail. And the control plane is also the research focus. After the functions of Call Controller,Routing Controller and Link Resource Management have been analyzed, the simulation model is designed and implemented. And then ASON congestion is studied according this model. The relation between call lose and 2 kinds of network offerload is obtained and the relation between call lose and connection time is also studied. The first half of the third chapter introduces the architecture of the Optical Burst Switch (OBS) network, and then describes the OBS simulation platform in NS2 simulation tool, including Application Module, Assemble Module, Schedule Module and Routing Module. In the other half of the chapter, LOBS is studied. The LOBS and its testbed are firstly introduced and then describe the implement of signaling protocol in LOBS control plan. The protocol program is composed of 2 threads. The main thread is to send and receive packets from FPGA through driver provide by embedded linux and process received packets according to OSPF protocol and RSVP protocol. The child thread is to communication with the net manager agent through message queue, wait for its commands and do the accordingly operation. The last chapter is the summary of the article and the expectation of the future research.
