Research On Application Of Information Integration Based On Topic Maps

With the fast development of informationization, nowadays, more and more IT has been used in the daily work of enterprises, including designing, manufacture and management. Information integration has become a crucial section and will play an important part in today's enterprise.At the beginning of the thesis, the backgound of this project is depicting. Then, an overview of the current research of computer science on information integration is introduced. After describing the concept of topic maps(TM)—a new ISO standard, a framework of information integration based on TM(TMII) is presented. Meanwhile, a general description and the advantage of the framework are discussed. In the following, the skill XTM to represent topic maps and the manual and automatic methods to generate topic maps are analyzed. After that, a detailed design of the main parts in TMII framework including TM dictionary, connector and information integrator, is discussed as well as how to make them work. Towards the end of the thesis, a case is studied to show the way to build an information integration system of Feng Huang vehicle transportation Ltd. Corp. using TMII scheme.Taking great advantages of the TM's flexibility and its superiority of describing semantics, the information integration scheme based on TM considers how to implement the communication among distributed heterogeneous information sources. It focuses on the"information island"problem, integration of information resource in enterprise, and information sharing. In this way, enterprises will obtain sufficient and reliable information in time. That will make them more competitive.
