Research And Application Of VPN In Broadband IP Network Of Shandong Province

As the expansion of the global Internet and dominance of IPbased applications, the business customers are faced with supporting a broader variety of communications among a wider range of sites, and also they are finding ways to reduce the cost of their communications infrastructure at the same time. So service providers have to pave the way to offer exciting new services to their customers. Services providers who seize this market opportunity to partner with their customers, and deliver differentiated services will enjoy financial success with increased profits. VPN (Virtual Private Network, VPN) using the Internet have the potential to solve many of the networking problems.Based on the real broadband IP network of Shandong province, this thesis discuss the technologies and realizing methods associated with deploying, provisioning and managing Internet VPN services; analyze how to use the existing network equipment with little addition to realize a province wide IP VPN product. By offering customers the option of deploying these VPN models, can reap the benefits of retaining an existing customer base, attracting new customers that we can quickly, reliably provision, and remaining flexible in capitalizing on new opportunities .This thesis include four particle:1.Provides a basic concept of IP VPN; the four main characteristics: security, quality of service (QoS), scalability , manageability; the basical modes and the rapid market requirement.2.Describes more detailed about the main VPN technologies: Tunnelling and MPLS based VPN. Compares the characteristics, benefit, positioning and the differentation between IPSec and MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switch, MPLS) based VPN.3.Importantly describes how to set up and define a IP VPN based on the real network equipment of Shandong province. As the market request, emerging IPSec protocol, mainly implement BGP (Border Gateway Protocol , BGP) /MPLS solution., and the dial-up account use L2TP (Layer Two Tunnelling Protocol, L2TP) protocol mapped to MPLS to realize their VPN service. This chapter also discuss the VPN management system, include the software and hardware structure.
