The Research On Application Of Data Access Middleware In Regional Health Information System

Sharing the information and eliminating the information acnodes, to construct the Regional Health System in order to share the hospital healthcare information, that's the foundation to realize the modernization of healthcare system. In our laboratory, we made a great deal of research in Regional Health Information System (RHIS), and developed our own RHIS based on three-layer architecture.According to the three-layer architecture of our system, we introduce the Data Access Middleware into our system to deal with the data and transactions between the three layers. We concretely implement it with the COM+ technology of Microsoft.This paper also introduces some important and related technologies and standards, such as Middleware, Web Service and Directory Service. We mainly describe the Model of Data Access Middleware and its design and implementation, and separately introduce the two components of Data Access Middleware: COM+ component and Web Service component, and also, the safety design of the Web Service component. Finally, this paper focuses on the application of Data Access Middleware in our Regional Health System.The main functions of Data Access Middleware are location transparency, distributed data query, transaction process and heterogeneous data sources compatibility. This kind of Middleware may meet the needs of future development of healthcare system.
