With the improvement of industry standardization, standard parts are used increasingly in design. To avoid repeated work, an effective resolution is to build the parts library whose core the standard part. Furthermore, the parts library can enhance the efficiency and quality of design. With the development of CAD, Internet technology and database technology, the research of standard parts library (SPL) based on web is becoming more and more important. By establishing the web-based SPL, design resources could be shared and support product development at different places concurrently. The development of C/S mode network SPL based on UG is studied in this paper.Firstly, we give a demand analysis of the system and then determine the architecture of SPL. According to the technical specification of network communications, we establish the network frame of this system based on C/S mode. Secondly, using the design method of relational database, we construct the relational model of this system and do research on the storage pattern of geometric information of the parts in database. We present a method for recording the geometric information of standard parts based on the data file and this method not only makes it convenience to manage and service the database but also makes it easy to extend SPL. Then, we make in-depth research on the key technology of SPL system. We present a method for calling MFC in UG, which solves the interface problem among UG, MFC and database. We presents a method for driving three-dimensional model of standard parts based on parameterization and then gives the key codes of the parameterization driver and dynamic expansion of SPL, which realizes automatic generation of the standard parts and expansion of the parts family's member. Finally, the paper introduces the basic function and operation flow of the four key modules, which are user management, standard parts management, standard parts call and SPL expansion of the system, and then the paper gives it's running instance.The SPL system which is based on UG-NX1.0 and is developed with VC++ 6.0 and SQL server 2000 makes use of UG / OPEN API technology and...
