With the development of CAD and network database technology, web-based library of standard parts is becoming more important and more research is done on it. Based upon the theory and techniques to establish standard parts library, an approach to establishing standard parts library in the network environment is addressed in this thesis. Firstly, the state-of-the-art of research and development of standard parts library is given. The shortcomings of existing standard parts library are summarized, and methods and requirements to solve them are introduced. Secondly, the Client/Sever model is used to establish the framework of 3D parametric standard library upon system requirement analysis. And the framework of function module is established by using Component Object Model (COM) technique at the same time. Each function module is described in detail, and the interface relations among different modules are designed. And then, several key techniques of the standard part library are discussed, and a method of 3D parametric reconfiguration is provided, which realizes the automatic transfer of standard part model. This paper realizes the user's authority management system combining with standard classification by treeview. At the same time standard part check model and tool for building library are designed for the system. Further more, this paper constructs the database system according to the relation data model, and the detailed designing procedure and essentials are given. Finally, by adopting the methods mentioned above, the 3D parametric standard part library system based on network database is developed and put into application.
