Study On Information Resources Integration Of University Library

With the development of society and changes in information environment, the traditional contents and patterns of library construction have experienced dramatic changes. The typical feature of modern library information resource construction is to seek to establish an integrated system of information resources in the steps of"library storage construction-literature resource construction-information resource construction".The thesis begins with a thorough explanation of the basic concept of information resource integration and goes on with a demonstration of the basic principles and the meaning of information resource integration. Referring to the major achievements and the history of information resource integration in our country and other foreign countries, the thesis analyzes and illustrates the problems in the theoretical study, technical study and the practice of information resource integration and lists out the shortcomings in our domestic study compared with the study of other foreign countries.The second part of the thesis pays special attention to the analysis of the structure and the basic methods of information resource integration in university libraries. Based on the depth of data resource process the second part classifies the integration into three basic layers and carries an analysis of four kinds of integrations in accordance with OPAC, straddle base retrieve, resource navigation, hyperlink. The analysis of the features of each kind of integrations has provided theoretical basis for the information resource integration in different university libraries.The thesis also gives a relatively detailed introduction to the widely used library information resource integration system platform such as: MetaLib/SFX, Web of Knowledge, ENCompass, TRS, TPI etc. The thesis also comes up with a design plan for the university library information resource integration and gives thorough elaborations on each of them in order to provide different ways and methods for the application of university library information resource integration.There is a long way to go for the university library information resource integration. Book intelligence community, computer technological community and other professional areas will have to work hard to fully carry out information resource integration. A deep theoretical study and a mature application of technology are the prerequisites for a bigger development of information resource integration.
