The Design And Development Of Personal Knowledge Management System

Knowledge management (KM) is one alliance of management and science, bringing knowledge into management scope is one of management science's extend. Enterprises initially employed Knowledge management to enhance their profit and capability. Personal knowledge management (PKM) is KM's application of its theories and methods to personal knowledge, which contributes itself to improve individual knowledge workers' knowledge accumulation, to improve the efficiency of one's own, to cultivate favorable knowledge habit, and to raise one's level of competition. Implementing PKM is greatly required for individual knowledge workers living in Knowledge-based Economy and knowledge explosion era. And the alteration of learning environment, learning method and learning resource also fortifies such requirement."Sharp tools make good work". Personal knowledge management system (PKMS) will undoubtedly influence the implementation of PKM, so it becomes rather important to choose suitable one. Considering the category of personal knowledge, the key factors of PKM and the differences among individuals, easy operation, intercommunion, full function and convenience will be regarded as the reference standards to choose PKMS. This thesis will design and develop a PKMS combining with the essence of knowledge, the sort of knowledge, the spiral theory of knowledge, the principles, character and estimation of PKM, the advantages and disadvantages of those existing PKMS and other factors. This system adopts C/S (client/server) software system structure and Delphi—the programming language with SQL Server as background database.Of course, the design and development of this system is just an attempt, if it can bring a little enlightenment to the readers, it will makes me overjoyed.The thesis is divided into six parts as follows:Chapter 1 mainly introduces the research background, potential and the focused content.Chapter 2 involves those correlative conceptions such as knowledge, knowledge category, knowledge management, personal knowledge management, knowledge spiral theory and the research situation, which are the foundation of implementing PKM.In chapter 3, with the analysis of the required function of a personal knowledgemanagement system, the present writer summarizes the merit and the demerit of existing PKMS.In Chapter 4, the present writer designs the system including requirement analysis, UML use case models and the detailed function.Chapter 5 basically discusses system structures programming language, database> realized function and the relative code.In chapter 6, the present writer further expounds the promise and perspective of his designed system with a frank exposure of the present weakness in design and development, expecting solid help to further exploiture.
