Research And Development Of Characteristic Digital Library

With the development of digital library technology, providing Characteristic services for users is becoming a possibility. Meanwhile, how to help users to get rid of the embarrassment of being drown in the sea of digital information and how to rationally optimize the information resources of digital library have being the problems we have to deal with. The main way to solve this problem is let the digital library own the characteristic services for every individual user. Its basic content is to take the users'need as the center and make use of the information resources of digital library to supply effective, various levels of and different kinds of services which will meet the characteristic demands. Based on the analysis of the construction experiences of many domestic and international characteristic digital libraries and considering the present situation of the characteristic services of our school library, this text tries to build up a MyLibrary (a characteristic digital library ) which is "user-centered" and it also considers the information need of different users. In the developing course of this system, it is based on the three layers of B/S system structures and it adopts the system solution plan based on J2EE.In this text, many key techniques applicable such as JSP, Servlet, JDBC, JavaBean and the database pools are elucidated and a practical characteristic digital library named MyLibrary is designed and developed using the J2EE application flat roof of SUN corporation, two models of Model1 and Model2 based on the MVC model and the technical characteristics of Web modules such as JSP, Servlet and JavaBean. This system is simply-handled,conveniently-maintained and easily-upgraded and there is a reason to believe that the development of this system will necessarily bring the source of vitality and invigoration for the construction of the digital library.
