Research And Development Of Integrated Retrieval System In Digital Library

With the rapid increase of information resources in Internet, more and more retrieval systems are developed and their functions become more sophisticated. However, The user interface, retrieval model and metadata of the retrieval systems are different from each other, which makes it difficult for user to get wanted information accurately and rapidly. This paper discusses metadata, XML, metadata interoperability, tightly coupled integration, loosely coupled integration and Z29.50 protocol in detail. Based on the analysis, this paper presents a new integrated retrieval system model, which can easily integrate existing retrieval systems. Finally, an implementation of integrated retrieval system in Xidian University library is presented.
