This subject is a project commissioned by Nantong Water Bureau. With the rapid development of national economy, water conservancy has played a more and more important role, and furthermore, flood prevention is one of the aspects that have direct impact on development of national economy. This subject is based on ARM platform, using an embedded design approach to achieve real-time monitoring, and solve problems that exist in manual methods such as observational data errors, system maintenance difficult issues and so on.In this paper, an embedded video monitoring system based on network was designed. This video monitoring system is developed based on high performance embedded processor S3C44B0X, video decoder/encoder ZR36060, TCP/IP stack W3100A and uClinux embedded operate system. The emphases of the paper: (1) the design of system hardware platform; (2) the transplant of uClinux on S3C44B0X; (3) the application of FPGA technology. With the technology of FPGA, it can control the whole system, make debugging convenient and improve the secrecy of system.The system was developed under the platform of ADS and linux. It was implemented in hardware and reached the anticipated effect. This system can also be applied to the video frequency monitoring field of close trades.
