With the rapid development of technology, video surveillance system is becoming more and more important. Moreover embedded system is omnipresent nowadays. It is applied as core part of automation control system in a wide variety of applications such as household appliances, computer equipment, robotics, automobiles, instrumentation, aerospace, etc. This paper brings forward the solution of the real-time video surveillance system based on ARM.This paper presents a process of the "Network transfer of Real-time Video and Wireless Communication System", including hardware design and software development. The hardware design of schematics and also PCB layout of this system, which is based on an ARM7 microprocessor (S3C44B0X from Samsung Corp.) are finished. This board consists of FLASH, SDRAM, LCD display part, keyboard, UART, Ethernet Controller, Wireless Communication chip, etc. As for the software running on this board, the testing programs, such as keyboard, LCD display, UART communication and Flash, are written within the ADS1.2. The application programs such as HPI interface communication, Internet communication, and wireless communication, are written under the Linux operation system, and then they are transplanted to S3C44B0X by cross-over edit and compile tools.The paper mainly discusses the correlative knowledge of video surveillance and embedded system, the blue print of whole system design, hardware design of schematics, Bootloader and its transplant, uClinux and its transplant, application programs and its transplant, system debug, etc.
