Now, Fieldbus is the trend of technology of automation control. Foundation Fieldbus (FF) is one of the best and advanced filedbuses. As Foundation Fieldbus is designed for industry control applications, it is supported by main companies which supplying automation systems and devices. Foundation Fieldbus is one of international standards, and have a good foreground in the scope of process control. Intelligent instruments based on FF will be used more and more in the future.In this paper, the FF H1 functional block application process (FBAP) is selected as the study object. The realization and test theory of FBAP are studied. First, a detailed analysis on architecture of FBAP and function block after studying the engineering application of FBAP. Second, the switch theory of parameter status and function block mode in the FBAP processes of strat, run, faile and recover through analyzing parameter status and function block mode are studied. Third, the realization method of function block instantiation is studied after analyzing restrict of limited function block type and number in the detail engineering application. Fourth, the method and result of testing for the interoperability of the FBAP are analyzed. Finally, the whole work and prospects of the later workes are summarized in the paper.
