Fieldbus realizes the digital communication and intelligent process of field meters. It is opening, and is the main technology in the field of process control system. Among these fieldbus technology, FF is supported by nearly all the world famous instrument manufacturer, and is ahead in FCS due to its advantage in technology.In this paper, the FF H1 standard is taken as the study object, it mainly focuses on the research of Application Layer protocol, which can be divided into two parts: FAS and FMS, including their key points such as VCR, AR and messagespecification. Since much of the message flows through the Application Layer, the quality of the software realization becomes very important. Along with the process of the "Research and Development of FF H1 communication stack" project and the demand of high quality of realtime, the realization of protocol stack software is provided, in which a creationary AREP attributes bounding method is bring forward that saving both time and space. Now the protocol stack software has passed the standard Conformance Test that assures the communication among application process, and realizes the opening quality of the Application Layer, with some value in engineering.There are six chapters in this paper. In chapter 1, the background, application of Fieldbus and the significance of the subject are firstly introduced. Then in chapter 2, the system architecture of H1 protocol standard and reference model are illuminated, especially the analysis of Application Layer. Chapter 3 and chapter 4 are important parts, including the research of entire Application Layer about the providing of VCR and services. In chapter 3, the realization of different ARs are presented, and still a creationary AREP attributes bounding method which resolving the problem of related value's repeated use. In chapter 4, it mainly focuses on the providing of VCR, FMS services and message specification. In chapter 5, methods to test protocol stack software of the Application Layer and the Conformance Test of the communication stack are explained, including the test results. Finally in chapter 6, all the previous work is summarizesd and some advices for subsequent work are given.
