Fieldbus builds up interconnections among field instruments and field control units by providing a wholly digital, bi-directional and multi-variant communication path, which has not only greatly improved the reliability and ability of anti-disturbance, but also sharply reduces the costs of installation and routine maintenance.Foundation fieldbus (FF) is the most advanced about process control. Based on understanding and analyzing of the FF specification, the minimum sub-realization of FF and its hardware and software was come out. This minimum sub-realization makes more manufactures easily product FF instruments.The design method of smart temperature measuring and controlling device based on fieldbus foundation are introduced, with hardware circuits and software processing procedure. In this paper, the design of physical layer and data link layer is put forward. The key matter of system structure, communication controller and MCU choice are emphasized. Communication controller chip FB3050 is used with P89V51RD2 to communicate with fieldbus, and the date can be update to PC.The design takes the full advantage of FB3050 to reduce software overhead and to process complicated protocols for the lower power. The exploitation and application of this device can improve real-time measuring and controlling level and be helpful for the popularization of fieldbus.
