With the rapid development of Enterprise Informatization in recent years, Workflow has become a critical technology for enterprise on coordinating business process. WfMS (Workflow Management System) is the system defining, setting up and implement Workflow. WfMS will help enterprises to improve their internal business process and accordingly raise businesses'efficiency; furthermore, it'll perform better control to business process, thereby upgrade the service quality to clients. Although there are many productions and prototypes of WfMS, they lack ability to ensure the correctness and reliability of the workflow execution in the presence of concurrency and failure. On the other hand, the original centralized, homogeneous and desktop oriented technology has developed toward distributed, heterogenous and network oriented technology. With the environment becoming more complex, the WfMS needs more reliability and stability. The transaction and transaction processing in WfMS are the key idea and technology to solve the above questions. The thesis discusses Business Activity advanced transaction model's analyses, design and implementation in WfMS. Firstly, the thesis introduces several familiar advanced transaction models; Secondly, it discusses WS-Coordination and WS-Transaction specification; Finally, it puts forward Business Activity advanced transaction model and analyze it. In aspects of designing and implementation, some key technologies, such as J2EE, BPEL4WS and Web Service are especially adopted. The framework and implementation of BA transaction model are proposed for a real WfMS based on J2EE platform.
