The application of computer in enterprises steps into inter-enterprise integration, and cross-organizational distributed workflow management technology is needed. Obviously the legacy CORBA based distributed WfMS could not satisfy the need, for it's hard for the Internet ORB protocol IIOP to penetrate the enterprise level firewall. So it's impossible to be a universal electric cooperation mechanism. Therefore IBM treats SOAP as open standard, and regards UDDI instead of IIOP as the correct method to gain interoperability. Besides, with regard to security, transaction, real-time dynamic performance, platform neutrality, openness, flexibility, portability, web based cross-organizational WfMS bares unique superiority, once it's used practically, it will be up to every layer of the WfMS application. This paper proposes J2EE/Web Service based workflow management, which is advanced in loose-couple, low cost, high integration ability and well suited to the need of modem enterprise development. At the same time of our research and design, it suggests that contemporary workflow transaction models, including those in existing business oriental WfMS, are not capable of perfectly ensuring the consistency, correctness and reliability. We always bog down both in the exploitation of Chongqing Highway information management system, and in the execution process of ERP system Chongqing ABB transformer Co.. This quagmire is ubiquitous. These days, there's no practical and reliable solution suitable among the hundreds sorts of business WfMS provided by Microsoft, IBM, SAP, BAAN and FUJITSU etc.. The reason of this phenomenon is that in the field of workflow transaction, we need a theory system similar to that of the transaction processing of database. Therefore, the research work of this thesis is a real challenge of great importance and urgency. We present the Double-Layer Orthogonal Transaction Model based on transaction workflow and Sagas long transaction model. It is an embedded transaction model providing better failure-recovery granularity. When the failure occurs, only the portions affected by the failure roll back. This paper proposes a transactional workflow and saga long duration transaction model based double-layer orthogonal workflow transaction model which bonds the property of traditional transaction model, advanced transaction model and relaxed transaction model, discussing the strategy of its implementation and failure recovery and how to ensure atomicity, consistency and durability.
