Periodical is the accelerator of the cultural, economic and technological development of a country and makes up an important part of the social media system. Technological periodical is an indispensable kind of periodical. It contributes a lot to academic exchange, dissemination of technological information, training of technological talents, and the transformation of technological knowledge to productive forces. At present, technological periodicals are independent of their former supervising authorities and are open to the market, which means that they have to depend on themselves and are responsible for their own losses and profits. As a result, they are now confronted with unprecedented competition. A study on the operation and the patterns of development of technological periodicals is of great benefits. It will help us to find out the problems in the operation of technological periodicals so that we can solve those problems.The whole thesis is made up of six parts.The first part is the introduction, which gives a brief account of the background information, aim of the study, contents of the study and the methodology used.Chapter one "Review of Technological Periodicals" expounds the status quo and future development of technological periodicals, the problems existed and the reasons for that, opportunities and challenge for technological periodical development, and the operation patterns in technological periodicals.Chapter two "Characteristic Operation in Technological Periodicals" discusses how to manage a technological periodical with its own characteristic, or even with its own brand. It is approached from four aspects: the orientation of a periodical (its aim, target market, target reader), its content, its team of authors and editors and its quality, last but not least, the layout of the whole periodical.Chapter three, "Distribution and Promotion of Technological Periodical" deals with proper distribution and promotion patterns with regard to price, expanding distribution channels, and promotion through publicity.Chapter four "Promotion through Advertisement" analyzes the status quo and future development of advertisement in technological periodicals, ways, advantages and principles of advertisementChapter five "Multiple Operations in Technological Periodicals" expatiates on how technological periodicals develop relevant products and carry out multiple operations.
