Supervision by media, an important part of social supervision, is in the demand of social development. Nowadays, supervision by media has turned into a non-neglectable political force in western society and is therefore known as the fourth state power. In China, with upgrading of political civilization and strengthening of people's consciousness of democracy and law, supervision by media has been attached with great importance and displayed rejuvenated vitality. Though the status quo of the supervision by media in China has shown signs of improvement, it still lags behind as lacking of protection by law, prevailing of localism, being short of consciousness of law in some journalists minds, forces against supervision by media and so on and so forth. All these have kept supervision by media looking like a wallflower. To solve these problems, a mechanism regulating supervision by media shall be established and an environment in which supervision by media can play a better role shall be constructed. This means that supervision by media is to be conducted within the scope of relative laws and regulations, and abusing of supervision by media can thus been inhibited.
