With the development of reform and opening and the advent of the information age, the position and function of the mass media has attracted more and more attention in many countries. Media Supervision is the public supervision depending on media, it is a kind of constitutional right and the extension of the freedom of speech and the right to know. In current China, supervision is actually people's supervision, i.e., the masses' supervising the work of party and government and their officials by media. In practice, however, Media Supervision is confronted with many difficulties, the lawsuit cases arising from it have increased more and more. The reason is lack of the corresponding legal protection. So it is necessary to make the Press Law. The fundamental purpose of legislation for the press is not only for ensuring the public to understand the truth from the media, but also protecting the media to enjoy the right to know and the right to interview. At the same time, the law can restrict the media to abuse the right.There are more than 30, 000 words in all and the thesis is divided into four chapters.Chapter one, describes the basic knowledge of Media Supervision like its concept, characteristics, fundamental principles and functions .The purpose is to establish a certain background and help us understand what is Media Supervision.Chapter two, introduces the relevant legal regulations about the Media Supervision, and manifests our country continuously embedded process for the cognition of Media Supervision.Chapter three, illustrates the conflicts between Media Supervision and some rights which refer to juristic right, reputation right, privacy right and national security.Chapter four, analyzes the systematic and mental barriers of Media Supervision, and put forward some relieve measures. Finally the author addresses her some ideas on how to perfect the press legislation.
