The Design Of Data Warehouse For USSD Mobile Business

Data warehouses technology is a new research subject in the databases field which has been on the upgrade in recent years. Using traditional databases as main information sources, it can realize the transfer from data to information, through analyzing and processing all kinds of data and information by some technologies such as online analysis process and data mining, thus can provide efficient decision-making support for both mediate and senior leaders of enterprises. Basing on real data of a company's USSD mobile business and targeting a topic, this paper designs and establishes a data warehouse, to put the data warehouses technology into real practice.In this paper, the USSD mobile business and its current situation is introduced firstly. Based on that, the demands for applications of data warehouse are presented, then the characteristics of concepts of data warehouses is introduced, and some key problems in the process of data warehouses construction and the applications of data warehouses are discussed. After overview of some ideas on data warehouses technology and its applications, the paper puts forward the general design of the data warehouse subsequently. At first, the application of USSD as the prime implementing topic of enterprise is proposed, through analyzing the background of enterprise and combining with reality, then the concept model, the logic model and physics model are established, according to the topic. Furthermore, SQL Server 2000 database of Microsoft is used as the database of the data warehouse, and some other technical preparations are made for the implementation of data warehouse. In the part of realization of the data warehouse, considering the heterogeneous data sources of enterprise, different data extracting strategies are designed respectively. After a series of transfers, including cleansing the data which is out of given scope or unrelated to the subject, transforming names and tapes of fields, and decomposing fields' values, the extracted data is loaded into the data warehouse by the aid of DTS, a component of Microsoft. The purpose to construct data warehouse is to better data analysis and provide valuable information for enterprises, so this paper designs and realizes the application OLAP of the data Warehouse, using Analysis Services, a tool of Microsoft. The whole process goes as follow: establishes a multidimensional data set, connects fact table and dimensional table, presents data by Excel, analyzes data according to demands, and provides important information for decision-makers.
