With the development of video coding and decoding technology, high-definition video (HDV) has been rapidly warmed globaly in recent years. Correspondly,High-definition video requires a high resolution display equipment and player software to decode them .But the high-end's large scale TV wall with expensive price makes it difficult to be applied widely. With rapid development of PC and graphics media processors, howerver,the large tiled display wall system based on PC-cluster is so powerful that it can meet the requirements of high-resolution display, and its price is so cheap that it can be widely applied. This paper covers the high-definition video (HDV) large tiled display wall system which has an important application value in the military, industrial control, digital entertainment and rainway station and so on.The paper mainly researched the architecture of our high-definition video player system of large tiled display wall based on PC-cluster and the key technologies in our HDV player system .The paper also introduced the software and hardware environment that is required by the software system,such as the development platform of DirectShow and so on.Firstly, this paper introduced research background of HDV player system of large tiled display wall, covered comprehensive description about video coding and decoding, and then introduced architecture of our system, including architecture of the hardware environment (PC-cluster systems), development platforms (DirectShow) and the architecture of our system.Secondly, this paper covered the key technologies of implementing the HDV palyer system of large tiled display wall and the author has implemented them. The system used client—server model architecture.The client controls the player server, including decoding, rendering, calibrating and displaying the video subimage. In our system, we choose socket as network communication for the reasone that our system require very good reliability;Synchronous mechanism is another key features of distributed video playing, including audio-video synchronization and among all player servers synchronization. Besides we automatically call the corresponding decoders on the DirectShow platform for decoding of the media flow to generate each frame of video texture real-time for next step of calibration. The system applied digital cameras' calibration means to obtain calibration configuration data, and then we use video-texture mapping obtained for geometric calibration and alpha mask for color calibration.Then the author has tested the system, the test results indicated that network protocol can meet system requirements, the system can real-time decode and play high-resolution film in the large tiled display wall system by seamlessly display after geometric calibration and color calibration.In the end, there is a final summary of the system.The large-sccale HDV display system based on DirectShow platform needs low prices in the PC-cluster to achieve high-resolution large screen video display system. The cluster system has several merits: low price, high-resolution and favorable expansibility. So our HDV player system has extensive application value in many industries.
