With the continuous development of mobile computing technology, people desire akind of mobile terminals which is more miniature, and owns more information, betteruser experience and rich functionality. At the same time, micro-display technology hasalso been considerable developed in recent years, and the traditional micro-displaytechnology has been gradually fading out of people’s vision, replaced by a new, largeresolution, high immersion micro-display technology, such as liquid crystal on silicon,organic light-emitting diodes which may become the mainstream of the market in thenear future. Video glass in this paper is a combination of head-mounted display andtoday’s mainstream embedded systems, which has a higher display resolution, betteraudio-visual experience, but also has a portable miniaturized design, longerbattery lifeand so on.The main task of this paper is to study the technology of video glass based onLCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) technology and develop a headset of video glass basedon liquid crystal on silicon micro-display technology and embedded technology. Thispaper includes the following aspects:1) Needs analysis of video glass and coming up with the hardware framework ofhead-mounted display and video player in accordance with the needs analysis.2) Completing the schematic and PCB design of the head-mounted display circuitbased on micro-display drive circuit design specifications and guidelines. Andaccomplish the design of the driver code based on embedded software developmentplatform according to the features of the drive circuit of the microprocessor.3) Complete the schematic design and PCB design of the video player besed onhigh-speed circuit design specifications and guidelines. And complete the design of thedriver code based on embedded operating system driver interface functions according tothe functional requirements of the video player, the host controller interfacecharacteristics.4) Video glass’s functional verification and hardware tests, including a test of thekey signal. At the end of this article, through testing the performance of video glass, and thefinal results show that video glass developed in this paper to meet the requirements.Besides that, the article sums up the the key point of the design of video glass andimperfect designs which should be improved later.
