The idea that logistics technology is THE THIRD BENEFIT increasing point of enterprises has been accepted by every iron & steel enterprise. But there are few research reports to combine logistics with quickly developed modern web internet technology and database technology. Storage management and electron commerce are the most applications in iron & steel industry logistics field. In this paper, a web-based iron & steel enterprise logistics management information system (abr. ISELMIS) has been built. The author has integrated logistics with iron & steel production process, product quality tracing and other technology in this system in order to find a good way to develop the source of THE THIRD BENEFIT of iron & steel enterprise.In this investigation, B/S (Browser/Server) tri-layer distributed software model structure is adopted; Microsoft.NET platform based ASP.NET program developing technology, the web internet technology and database technology are applied. The developed ISELMIS has characteristics of clear structure, easily distributing, easily putting in practice, good extension, easily maintaining, and so on.The way of system requirements analysis has been used to analyze the system requirements. A model of the system function is established according to the characteristics of iron & steel production techniques. The features of .NET software skeleton and B/S tri-layer distributed structure have been discussed. A web-based B/S tri-layer distributed system software structure model has been established. The model is consists of user interface layer, operation logic layer and data access layer.The characters of Oricle8i, Sybase SQL Anywhere and MS SQL Server 2000 are compared. SQL Server 2000 is selected as background database in the system. The way of system concept model analysis is used to analyze all the body E-R graphics of the system. A database system is established according to the E-R graphics.In this paper, the basic frame of ASP.NET is specified. ASP.NET code-behind technology, C0M/C0M+ technology and ADO.NET data access technology are used in program developing process.A system security access model is established by means of role-based access control strategy, authentication and authorization of web access, customized web pages based on users and required field validation in data input.
