Magazines for females have been surging since 1995. As an indispensable leisure reading for a city woman, they serve for women, appeal to women and target women of different ages and different living levels. These magazines for females serve as a life guide, an emotional counselor or a psychological doctor with various contents, such as character depiction, love stories, relations between different sexes, consumption information, tips on how to keep young, etc. They help mold perfect women, guide women's love, direct women's consumption trend and living styles and portray a picture of an ideal perfect life for women. Meanwhile city women regard them as their life guidance and accept the ideas and behaviors advocated in the magazines. The interaction between women and female magazines involves leading and inheriting, misleading and misinterpreting. It promotes females' physical and mental liberation and development and also triggers women's anxiety over female survival and psychology problems which may bring about a certain negative effect on females.This dissertation reveals and discusses the phenomena, explores the reasons from interpreting the media texts, manufacturers' individual features and the operation modes of advertisements with an attempt to seek countermeasures and call for further reflections so that female magazines can be developed in a healthy and overall direction as a real speaker for contemporary women.
